Product Processing & Food Sorting
NIFB acquires donated food from a variety of retailers, manufacturers, corporations, and community resources and distributes it through its network of more than
520 nonprofit food assistance sites to help hungry neighbors living in poverty in 13 northern Illinois counties. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to work on a variety of projects, including sorting, evaluating, cleaning, and packaging donated food prior to distribution. Volunteers who are able to lift between 15-30lbs. are welcome. However, heavy lifting is not a requirement. The sorting shifts at NIFB's

The Rockford Branch of Northern Illinois Food Bank can accommodate individual volunteers and groups of up to 50 people. Many companies and organizations find volunteering at NIFB an excellent team-building experience.
