Both Woodward Governor Company and its members are deeply committed to supporting programs and organizations that ensure their communities are desirable places to live and work. 

For more than a decade, members at Woodward’s Rockford and Rockton, Illinois facilities have given generously so the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) can feed hungry people. Likewise, the Woodward Charitable Trust has contributed more than $200,000.

While helping to design and manufacture fuel control systems and components for aircraft turbines, Food Drive Committee members have also invented creative ways to earn money for NIFB. Past campaigns have focused on themes such as the 12 days of Christmas, NASCAR, the Olympics, mazes, and NBA basketball teams. At Woodward, they have sold tacos, hot dogs, egg rolls, and pizzas. They even promoted a raffle that culminated with the Green Bay Packer letter “G” being shaved into the head of a Chicago Bears fan.

The Woodward Food Drive Committee’s activities are always interesting and fun ways to rally together in the fight against hunger. NIFB and the hungry neighbors served are fortunate to have such dedicated members at Woodward who respond to the needs of our communities with significant amounts of time, talent, and money.

Woodward’s generosity continues to support many NIFB programs. One feature program that Woodward contributes to is the Mobile Pantry. Since 2005, Woodward has sponsored 17 Mobile Pantry visits throughout northern Illinois. At these visits, several members have volunteered to distribute more than 135,000 pounds of food to help more than 2,225 families in Boone, DeKalb, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago Counties! By volunteering, Woodward members experience first-hand how their efforts help hungry children, families, and seniors.

It is the efforts of Woodward’s members that contribute to the prosperity and quality of life of northern Illinois and all the communities where Woodward is located. It is with great admiration for Woodward and its members in the fight against hunger that Northern Illinois Food Bank proudly inducts Woodward Governor Company into its Donor Hall of Fame.
